Christmas 2010

Big thanks to everyone that sent their wishes, regards, presents and everything else.
Had a pretty good day. Had a visit from Uncle Scott, discovered the wonders of a new transportation method and even got up close and personal with a certain cat.
Quite a bit to get through with today's post.
First we have a special inspection service making sure there are no suspect packages in the delivery...
Then there was the product test team discussing the workload.
a) Pip to inspect the pate. There appears to be something very nomable right there!
b) Singing elephant. Works correctly, Erik happy :)
c) Transportation - secrured... note the new fancy hats of both the sherpa and the expeditioner
One more thing, taking my responsibilities very seriously may mean that some items may suffer from wear and tear. This particular item was of such importance that it needed immediate attention - a fine layer of milk phlegm was entirely justified in this case.

Happy Solistice!

Well a few days after that particular event. The nights are now getting longer. It also means that I have less time during the day to wear a novelty suit and a fancy hat. So a picture will have to suffice.

I made It - 6 months!

Hello Everyone.
Just letting you know that I am now officially 0.5 years old. So we could round it up and be done. Just like the nice old man on the street thought he could do by calling me a 1 year old. It would seem that he did learn mathematics at school AND remembered how to round up!
But wait, there is more... I have discovered a new game to play - peek-a-boo. It is most amusing:

Way more amusing than broccoli (which I don't like) and cauliflower (which gives me wind). I can tell you that zucchini is a top notch vegetable for my tastes, but a decline in appetite can always be resurrected with a taste of mango with pear.... Mmmmm... tasty!

Happy Flappy

About midday, just after some food. Grisly and grumpy, then... toys to play with.
Mum eating food, dad cooking...

Practice

Life goes on. I have been very busy recently. It may not appear so to the untrained eye, but I assure you that every waking moment there is 'something' going on. Most of it, I am glad to report, is happy-times - until I get tired. Then it can be a pretty rapid change from grumpy, to happy and back again.
Here is a nice photo of me getting 'teh skillz'. Soon enough I wont need the cushion to do this amazing feat!

I like to Chew

Had a big adventure today... went for a trip to the library. Now I have been to the library before, books, people the walk, etc. This time it was different. instead of the usual walk there, walk back, browse some books there was a whole lotta strangeness happening. Not only was I not the only bouncing babe, there must have been 20 others of my stature there, plus a lots of singing and clapping and waving and my friend Zia all there together. I was so shocked and amazed by the whole thing. Glad that it didn't go for too long, there was way too much excitement for me. And at the end I got a library-showbag, with my very own book to eat. Which I did and it was delicious!
Unfortunately no photos from the last shake-rattle-and-rhyme for the year, but here are a couple of me eating some other tasty things... tasty for me at least.

I can't help it!

For me, it's being cute. I just can't help it.

However, there is a slight problem. My new found enthusiasm for foods has caused a somewhat unlooked for consequence. We were at the shop the other day, looking for a comfy chair for me and the shop lady told me i was fat! Well not fat exactly, but she was implying that I was large for my age, which is the same thing really. Does my giant hand frighten you?One last thing... the title is also due to another event this week. Long awaited and anticipated... a certain game has a certain expansion and a certain person is going to play... again. No prizes if you can guess any of the correct answers. Finally... a special hello goes to the crew at New Universe! You know who you are.

Should be 6, but was more like 5.5

Had another trip to the MCH nurse today. Had a chat to the nurse. I think mum and dad also wanted to talk to her, but I had priority. My news is way more important than any kind of 'health' thing they were talking about. Before you get too excited, no new pics for a few more days... someone was doing that thing with the net again and we have to do things slowly... again...
anyway...
I now weigh in at a hefty - 8.252 kg (a bit more than 18lbs)
I am longer - 65cm (a bit more than 2 foot)
And more rounded in the head - 42.5cm (17inches)

In the space of 6 weeks, I gained a record breaking 1.7kg - more than 1-oz a day.
Soon there will be some new an exciting foods to be eaten...

That's all for now.
More pics in a few days.

New Looks

There is so much more to life than just being cute, or so I have discovered. The state of being of cuteness can be enhanced by also looking cute. For example, I have been trying out some new rags, putting on a ritz and dressing to the nines in what could be described as an attempt to increase my social standing through appearances alone. Has it worked? Am I even more adorable? There is only so much self-aggrandisement I can consciously commit to. So. You decide...

The shades are on, the head is (mostly) bald... no tatts yet, but I could be Chopper...I have the slightly raised chin, the tie and the appropriate coloured shirt... private school boy?
No, that was just a ruse... my clever use of the telephone tells you I am, in fact doing an office worker impression...

Freak out!

My day started all normal and nice... and then.... FREAK OUT!!I guess I should elaborate. Mum put me to bed at the usual time (1pm). I did the unexciting thing by going to sleep. However, when I woke (!) there was someone there I didn't expect and a couple that weren't. AS you could imagine, it was a shock to me. I handled things in the only way one of my stature could... FREAK OUT!
It didn't last too long, a white rabbit helped me to understand the way of the world and Uncle Scott was there to feed me. I think it turned out alright.

Tick-Tock

The clock is ticking...
Soon there won't be room large enough to contain me! I'll tell you why... my plans are coming to fruition. Now that I have mastered the art of rolling from front to back, it is only a matter of time before I will roam freely across glen and dale...

Check it...

5 months... well almost

The summer is here... in the space of a few days I have gone from warm fuzzy to nearly naked during sleep times. The problem is that the change from warm to hot to cool again makes for confused parents about just how many layers to put on me.
As always, there have been many activities occurring. I have found anew game to play with Mum. She makes sure I don't fall, and I stand up by myself for as long as possible.Dad does this differently, but I like standing so much that doing it another way is just as fun.I have started to investigate things in a much more hands-on fashion. Anything in reach is liable to be picked up and eaten. This thing just didn't come off! So no taste-test for me...Marg and I watching telly. I suspect we will both do a lot of this in the future...

Mega-Update!!!

Hello Everyone!
Sorry about the hugely long delay in updates. There has been some things going on that needed urgent attention... be warned this will be a huge post... so get some coffee (or tea (or milk)) depending on what you prefer, let the net run until the page loads, then read and look and most of all, enjoy!

The adventure all started when the rains came. It had been pretty dry and with the onset of the spring rains, all kinds of creatures appeared that would normally stay hidden. I can tell you that I was surprised, but something needed to be done. It was us or it. So with a daring-do that only a Viking can muster - I battled the Kraken...As you all probably know, battling Kraken is quite tiring work. But that wasn't the next thing on my mind. I needed something to distract me from the horrors. So I hit the drink. Quite hard too. You must be thinking that I am too young for the bottle. But I don't care I tell you. Just give me that one last drop...There are some of you out there that know of the dangers of hitting the bottle without a decent meal first. I was not the first to discover the effects. Regardless, I can tell you it was something else...But the excitement didn't stop there. I had some visitors too... A group of lovely ladies all vying for my attention. Being both magnanimous and diplomatic, I tried to distribute my countenance evenly. The time we spent by the river will be cherished for some time. My special and personal messages go to:
Cousin R: your fingers will always know what my lips will never tell.Cousin K: it may have amused you, but I was concerned that we would be discovered.
and Aunty A: both comfort and warmth, arms good enough to sleep in.After the trip to town, the hordes of people lining the streets to meet me (or maybe it was something to do with a horse race), and the rendezvous by the river, I needed some sustenance. So it was back home to get some food. This is my favourite flavour!
Knowing that my cot was safe, guarded by the fearsome tiger and a soft toy:I took a well deserved rest...

Delay....

Hello everyone... sorry about being so quiet for the last few days. *someone* who shall remain nameless for the time being used up all the monthly bandwidth limit. So that means no new pics for a few more days.
But be sure to know that there are some great ones coming your way. (they are of me, so how could they not be great?)

Busy Week

Well, here we are at the day of Fry, not that I get to eat any fried food yet. But I did try a carrot...After the initial reaction it wasn't quite so bad...I have grown too much recently, so it would seem that my shower-days are a thing of the past (for a few years at least). I would be sad, except that bath-time is just as good...
This week was eventful for me... I got a present from Grandma and Granddad, the hat fits perfectly :) I had my vaccinations... Ouch! Both legs were very sore for most of the day, but after the big sleep I felt so much better. I also had a date in the park with my friend Zia.

Room To Grow

Well I would never have suspected it. Pip built me a cot! Now I have space to grow and an unexpected ally.

4 Month Check-up

Had my 4 month check-up with the MCH nurse today. Mum and Dad had a guess as to how much I weighed and the results are now in... Mum won! Being out by only 78grams. Dad was a woeful second place with an error of 478g.
The new stats are:
  • Weight - 6.478 kg (now more than double birth weight, that's 14lb 4oz for the old skools out there)
  • Length - 64cm
  • Head circumference - 40 cm
I have been getting much more vocal recently. I can make several new and interesting sounds, but the most fun part is making them in different orders. It all seems to be going well. The nurse said I had good head control. Which was nice. But I am still missing a few baby skills that she wanted to see. Namely - rolling from belly to back, and reaching for and grabbing things. I think that she just wasnt holding something interesting enough :P
I will be starting on some food soon too! The milk is ok, but I want some adventure and excitement... bring on the ricemeal!

Cruising

Nothing like a new week with a few new things... Dad was clearing out the cd/dvd stacker and found these groovy goggles.
Also the summer seems to be winding up. It was too hot to wear my knitted hat, but without a cooler alternative, some improv was necessary.

Same Old

Well another week has passed us all by. My routine changes with each nappy, well so it would seem to the untrained eye. The truth of the matter is that I am carefully and incrementally training my parents to do what I want, when I want. They seem to be completely unaware of my devious plans. I do have a feline nemesis and she has a much more profound understandings of the inner workings of a sinister genius. Her reaction to discovering my plans could be interpreted as somewhat rude...

I had another visit from Aunty Jac this week. Last week she brought me a really cool camel toy. This week, however, there was so much more!! I have enough clothes to last me well past Christmas!! woo hoo!! Once again a big THANKS! to those wonderful ladies that have given so much: Marg, Joanne and Jac.
(BTW Captain Calamari is a huge success! New favourite toy).

After a long snooze there is nothing quite like squirming and wriggling until I get an arm free and a glove off... However, the result may be a huge gash down my cheek. This little beauty was the perfect way to get the parents up and out of bed in moments... pity it hurt so much...

"Boy band' album cover anyone?
